Kindergarten – "Fives"

Children in the “Fives” room continue work the A Beka phonics program to build on the phonics foundation from the four-year-old class. Children learn punctuation and continue reading books with sentences comprised of one and two vowel words.

Creative play and memorization of poems enhance their mental development. Practice in writing upper and lower case letters, words and sentences works to develops small muscle coordination. Math concepts include counting to 100 by twos, fives and tens. Kindergartners will be able to tell time, count money, use a calendar and begin subtraction and easy one step math problems. Children in the “Fives” will experience field trips throughout the year to explore science and community. And, you won’t want to miss Kindergarten graduation; it’s an impressive display of their acquired skills and self confidence.

Our private Kindergarten class is limited to 15 children to ensure individual attention for each student. We accept children into our Kindergarten program whose 5th birthday falls before December 31. Our Kindergarten teacher is a certified teacher.
